+1, and CPW will match mazuma/envirofone etc. and pay you on the spot (if you are buying from them)

Cool. Thanks.

O2 have sent me a payg SIM ready to transfer my current number onto if I decide not to.port it. The thing is, I actually quite like the number that's on the payg card already!

Is it possible to port the payg number to new contract?

Yes, you can. But O2 require you to have topped up the PAYG card first at least once.

Ok, my Nexus 5 is now waiting for me at home, and will be on Vodafone. The number they have pre-assigned me is cr@p! Does anyone know if they would offer to allow me to choose an alternative when I activate the account?

Or, if not, if I did pay £10 to activate the O2 payg sim card I like the number on, and immediately get the PAC, will Voda still allow the porting process to start even after the phone has been delivered/activated? And if I did that, how long does porting take? Been 5 years since I last did it!

You can port in a number at any time, today, tomorrow, next year if you wish......
I'm not aware of Voda allowing a number change process though so porting is your only option I believe.....
From receipt of PAC to activation is 48 hours (if all goes smoothly).
