Rooting Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i

Rooting Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i

I have a neighbour who wants more space on their Galaxy Ace 'La fleur' ( )

I've basically said that rooting is the only way as it allows removal of unwanted apps/bloatware etc.

I'm guessing that Odin is the way forward - I have it installed from when I rooted my S3, can I use this or do I need a different version for this phone?

Root method for this phone is slightly different and you need to check which firmware it's running.

Just had a look at the link - I dont like the look of the 'prepare your pc' section, I don't recall having to do any of that when I rooted the S3 :? :?:

However: Db. Rooting for 2.3.x (NEW METHOD!):
1.Download file called universal_gb_root_v25.zip and copy it to your sdcard
2.Turn off your phone
3.Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
4.Select update from sdcard, select the file universal_gb_root_v25.zip
5.After the update completed - reboot
6.Now you have rooted S5830

The phone is running 2.3.6 - can it really be as simple as the above?!!

Yep it's that easy :)
The preparing your PC bit is only if you are going to install SDK.....

SU & busybox "might" be included in the root files (usually one or the other) and yes Titanium backup to freeze the apps first, then use the phone to make sure all is OK with the frozen apps before completely deleting them (just in case ;))
