Windows Partitioning

Windows Partitioning

PostPosted by opium » Wed Feb 12, 2014 3:32 pm

I have ~50Gb free on my hard drive and want to create a new partition so I can run a dual boot OS on this laptop.

My other laptop had Win7 and when I installed Gentoo I completely removed Windows (wasn't a problem though).

This laptop has Win8 but the partitioning menu should still be pretty much the same.

However, when I do go onto disk management - the first time I saw my 400Mb partition and then the main Windows one, 500Gb. I right clicked it, clicked shrink and shrunk it by 25Gb, however, the hourglass timed out

Now every single time I go to disk management this is all I see:

It won't show me the current partitions. Is there any other way I can check and/or create a new one?

The shrink must've worked because I fired in an Ubuntu cd to test it and now it has the 'install Ubuntu and Windows side by side' option :-)
