Was this a whole page saying about the Java update? If so, I got that on here twice yesterday whilst viewing Stu's blog.

Did the usual, exited rapidly and disconnected net and did full scan.

No it was a box at the bottom of page that opened up. However it was definitely the Java logo and I could enlarge it.

It went through the whole terms and conditions routine, but Ray thinks when I installed it there was probably stuff I didn't read at the bottom of the page.

All I know is when I installed it...my BT Yahoo homepage had gone ..replaced with this snapdo cr@p. That's when Ray took over and uninstalled it.

My homepage then appeared normal...except when I opened the new tab to find all my usual site boxes had gone and I was left with a blank page on the new tab.

At this point (as at 20.50 tonight) Ray has restored it to how it was 36 hrs ago...BUT the new tab page remains empty. So whatever snapdo did..it has 'magically'

removed that facility....s@dding hell :idk :idk :idk

Do a full AV scan and a Malwarebytes scan.......Snapdo contains a virus

Update...Java with its Snapdo... contained multiple spyware and malaware which has been totally cleared off now...

I still have not had the New tab return with my previous sites I visit...the new tab page remains empty (sobs uncontrollably)

So sod it all...and apologies for venting!! I will never use my initiative on this damn computer again. I know my place... I will get back in the kitchen :NO :idk :idk

It was a Java update that came up..and wasn't the real Java (not a pop up as such) I honestly can't remember what site I was on. I had multiple tabs open.

including FB, This forum, Hegendary, Amazon, BT Yahoo etc etc....

One thing to try although I'm pretty sure Mi5 was bang on in his first post is to open up a new tab and click on the little group of 9 squares at the top right hand side.

Tried that...but no little group of 9 squares come up Browni. Ray thinks because it was a virus/spyware it has corrupted Firefox.

He is going to take it off and re-install it....

Will let you all know if that works...

So am getting off now and handing this laptop back to Ray...

Hi Browni. Checked that but they weren't there....a lot of my original toolbar was changed and icons missing after 'invasion' of Snapdo...which did contain a virus.

Ray has taken Firefox off and reinstalled it. Computer has been cleaned and scanned and is NOW back to how it was (pre snapdo!)

What's even better for me is...I NOW open a new tab and all my previous favourite boxes are there displaying the sites I use all the time.... :ooyh

Incidentally for anyone like Kev who does have this Javascript appear, asking you to update it...do as he did and close it down immediately.

Google is full of articles about ways in which Snapdo invades your computer...Installation of fake Javascript is one of them!

However, thanks to everyone for your help :D
