Computer Help

Can any Computer expert help here??...

Yesterday computer said I was running old version of Java and to update it...I did...BIG mistake!!! Something called snapdo took it over...
I lost my home page because this damn programme kept opening up.
Ray uninstalled it. It had added all sorts of games I never played. (Apparently it wasn't a 'real' version of Java) He set everything back to how it was...but it wasn't...

My problem now is... I have my old home page back...BUT and a big but here... when I open a new tab I used to have on display all previous sites I use frequently..
There were in total nine boxes showing on the new tab page..FB, H4M forum, Google, Ebay Amazon etc etc. So if I wanted to access quickly I just clicked on the box
I wanted...and that site opened up. NOW the new tab page is blank...

Computer runs latest version of Firefox

Does any expert know how I can get this 'old' setting back? (I HATE change!!)

I would ask Ray...but he is working tonight :angry :idk

It works by reading your browsing history, so I guess you'll have to visit the sites again to give it something to display.

You do know that Java Runtime Environment is not one of the "must have" software a computer needs.

I've not had Java installed for about 2 years and only recently when I was using a diagnostic site did I need to re-install it. I promptly uninstalled it after I ran the diagnostic test.

I have done that all of today (this happened at 6pm last night) So today I have been manually typing in all of those sites I visit frequently in the hope that computer

would remember them and start displaying as before when I open a new tab...NOT ONE site displaying after 24 hrs. :idk :idk :angry :angry

Yes.. they are there in my history when I open that...but I don't want to access them that way...I want my 'old' way back ...

I just can't understand what this snapdo did to remove that facility... :NO :idk

Yes I do now...but when I am told I am running an old version of Java and do I want to update..I do it (in the same way I update Adobe Flash when requested)

I realise now it was a mistake... which is why Ray uninstalled it but it has still beggered up my New Tab settings... seemingly :idk

Sounds like it deleted your Bookmarks setting.....I've forgotten where that is in FF.

Well if no-one can guide me through a step by step 'repair' I shall have to wait till my own computer expert gets in and fixes it!

One other question then.......... is there a simple way you can take your computer back to how it was 36 hrs ago? If so would that fix it? :halo

Just checking Cleo,

Was this a whole page saying about the Java update? If so, I got that on here twice yesterday whilst viewing Stu's blog.

Did the usual, exited rapidly and disconnected net and did full scan.
