Holiday WiFi?

PostPosted by pdmoulsher » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:34 pm

The 2015 Moulsher clan executive vacation with the stars is booked, and this year we're pulling out all the stops - Hunstanton here we come! :bringit

Last years getaway to the pulsating metropolis that is Cleethorpes taught me one thing: holiday resorts around small UK coastal towns don't get much better than 2G coverage, and with WiFi limited to the site bar area and maybe the local pub/KFC, night time internet access was non existent :cleo

So, with 4 kids, father in law, myself and the good lady all packing at least one tablet/mobile device a solution is needed.

I've checked coverage for our destination postcode (PE36 5BB) with our respective providers (O2/Voda) and it would appear that, as expected, 2G is the order of the day :x

Having not used any kind of dongle/portable WiFi device before I'm unsure as to what options are available - any advice?

First off you need to find out if any network can provide 3/4g in the area.......?

Then (if it's true) you need an EE MiFi device such as this http://shop.ee.co.uk/dongles/pay-monthl ... nd/gallery

Been looking at that, but does it work on 3g, as it says it's a 4GEE device?

Edit: This is EEs' network checker, postcode is PE36 5BB http://ee.co.uk/ee-and-me/network/4gee/coverage-checker
