2015 phones

PostPosted by phillpark » Mon Feb 02, 2015 9:55 am

Is it sad that I'm not due an upgrade till November, but I'm already starting to puzzle over what phone I think I may want when the time comes???

New HtT M9, the latest Nexus, an LG G4, Sony Z4, it looks like their is gonna be some amazing handsets this year!

Obviously price will eb a key factor in whatever i end up going for, as i will be (as usual) on a budget, but I'm still excited at waiting for some of these phones to be unveiled, so I can end 2015 in style!

(I'm wondering if their might be some 'Black Friday' deals that will coincide with my upgrade date, or I could always prolong my pain till Jan '16 though and see what i can pick up in the sales...)

What are the rest of you excited about???

Of course if Sony stick with Xperia and keep on the 6 month cycle. Z5 will have just came out when you upgrade.

Will probably have a premium price if it's just come out though, might be able to get a bargain on a Z4, which i imagine is gonna be pretty swish anyway? Mrs phillpark has a Z2 and I'm fairly impressed. Could easily be tempted to go Sony!

My first Android phone was a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

Imo, the z2 is the best value for money xperia you can get, the difference between z2 and Z3 is so small, if you can get a Z2 for a good price it's a steal. In fact the z2 has a better camera technically speaking.

I'd certainly recommend anything from Z1 upwards - fantastic phones.....

The only thing that might prompt me to go Z3 instead would be worrying about how long Sony would be supporting the Z2 with updates (as in Lollipop's successor and so on), if it is already 2 models behind new when I got one.

I could probably quite happily live with a HTC One M9, or a LG G4, or a Samsung S6 too, so it will probably all come down to the best deal on the day!

As long as you get a phone with an unlocked bootloader you can install anything you want (In fact, I think the bootloader issue may even have a workaround now), so I wouldn't worry about updates.

Yep, Z3 cracked about two weeks ago.
Personally I wouldn't unlock the bl on my ones, you lose the drm keys when you do, and I have too much content that needs the drm.
But rooting and recovery is all good now.
