BT infinity 2 gone slow

PostPosted by Gillsfankev » Fri Oct 09, 2015 9:07 am

Had it for a while now and was always synching at around 50-70Mbps depending on peak times.

All of a sudden I'm down to 8mbps from 0700-0000. After that it goes back to the normal 70.

Must be something going on surely? Can't be that many on the exchange all of a sudden?

Don't wanna ring them as I always end up swearing and they've already banned me from calling them once!

Not sure of any of that Kev re speeds...however we have BT Infinity and I can tell you it went off for no apparent reason twice last night,
Now I know you are in Cornwall and I am in Warwickshire so my comment is probably totally irrelevant but just thought I would chuck it in for good measure :lol :lol

Go into your router settings menu and separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz streams. Rename them to show separate streams.
Then choose a higher bandwidth speed for the 2.4ghz
Then reconnect the nexus and M9 to 5ghz if possible, if not then connect them to the now faster 2.4ghz channel

There shouldn't (in ideal circumstances) be any difference in speed between 2.4 and 5 ghz but, because the 2.4 frequency band is narrower it can suffer from interference from overlapping channels.
1, 6 and 12 are the only really usable channels too esp if you are getting noise from neighbours wifi.
5 ghz uses a much wider frequency band so more usable channels with less chance of interference, which may give better results if your device will connect to the 5 ghz signal.

eventually sorted it.

Played around a bit in the hub and fixed it.

Don't ask me how because I don't know really. Just named all the connections and stuffed the TV's and Set-top boxes on the 2.4 and phones/tablets/laptops etc to 5. set that as a rule and seems to have worked.
