The mystery remains.
After I connected that ethernet cable to my PC it worked perfectly...all day and up to when I went to bed.
However...so many other people using WiFi in this house from about 5pm...
Ben on PC playing Fifa and You tube...and using mobile
Adam using WiFi TV box and phone
Ray using PC...

They all worked well. In fact Ray said 'You don't need that ethernet cable now..take it out'
I refused....
Get up this morning..only one up and using WiFi...No Ethernet cable.
10 minutes in....
* Connecting connecting connecting
* Can't find server...
Bang ethernet cable in ....and all works perfectly again.

So it possible that MY laptop is having some sort of issue with our WiFi??
The facts are these.
1) WiFi is working. The hub is displaying 3 blue lights constantly
2) BT website allows me to check signal issues. There are none.
3) This is a brand new HP Win 10 8Gb Ram laptop bought in July.(not used too much as I was keeping my Spain one up to date)..
4) When it cuts out, I can get it working again by restarting it...or rebooting router

Might need to update your WiFi driver.

Just because your router shows 3 blue lights doesn't mean squat.
Tell ray to go into your router settings and separate the streams from Adaptive to 2.4 and 5ghz separate channels.
You are connecting to one dodgy stream on your laptop because that stream has allocated a ip number to it and will connect by default to this crappy stream.
Once separated, rename them with a 5G or 2G at the end.
Set the 2.4ghz stream to optimise for range.
Set the 5ghz to optimise for speed.
Save and reboot router.

Forget the WiFi connection on your laptop.

Connect to the 5ghz stream on your laptop.

Done.

This has NEVER failed to fix BT hub crappy WiFi issues

Yes as I have been reading through the thread and knowing other devices in the house are trouble free it's quite evident its a WiFi issue related to my PC only.

I will tell him what you advised needed doing ..... :lmao :lmao

Well thankfully the good Lord Viridis has successfully identified the problem. Our BT router is HH3.
Apparently "my new PC has more advanced WiFi chipped than your router. Hh3 was quickly replaced with hh4 that had the faster 5ghz chipped in.Now they have HH5"
Our router is giving a crappy service to my new PC...so guess what the next plan will be....? :heart :rockin
