I don't know if the HOX and the HOX+ have the same firmware. Just annoyed O2 have done one, and STILL not the other!

O2 finally got round to updating my HOX to 4.2.2, but now I'm scouting around, looking at 4.3!

Any thoughts on this?

But where do i go now?! :D

Had a bit of nightmare doing it, not sure if it was problems with Hassan's toolkit or my (ridiculously slow) netbook, but it took 2 hours in the end!

Now gotta get my head around custom roms, and still get confused about the difference between rooting and flashing etc.!

Is installing a custom recovery (clockworkmod or TWRP etc) rooting the phone?

Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install a custom recovery programme, which in turn allows you to flash a custom ROM.
Rooting just gives you access to the "root" files and directories (a bit like selecting "show hidden files" when exploring in Windows).

....

Or have i rooted the phone by unlocking the bootloader? If not, do i need to root it before trying a custom rom, and how do i do it?

I was under the impression that the toolkit gave you root too....?
I'll check and get back to you.....
You still need a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) as this gives you the ability to flash ROMs from your SD card.

Edit: Yep, root instructions in post 1 of the original link.

You may have already rooted - Just look if you have SuperSU (superuser etc) installed as an app.
If not follow the steps towards the end of post 1.

By the time i had set my phone up again I think i forgot that bit! I haven't done this bit:

"When your phone loads up, go through the set up wizard. Then, on your phone, go to Settings -> Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging.

Under the Extras section, press Perm Root. It will push SuperSU.zip to your phone.

Under commands, press Boot into Bootloader once again.

Now, it is time to flash a recovery."

Where Hassan says "It will push SuperSU.Zip yo your phone", am i meant to do anything with it, or will the fact his toolkit has pushed it onto the phone mean it's done?
