HTC oneX (HOX) Unlock Bootloader & Root

HTC oneX (HOX) Unlock Bootloader & Root

PostPosted by MI5 » Fri Aug 16, 2013 6:01 pm

Hold the power button and vol down together until you get into the bootloader screen and you will see something like this:
*** LOCKED ***
ENDEVEARU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.39.0000
CPLD- NONE
RADIO-5. 120.162A.29
eMMC-Bootmode: disabled
CPU- bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: enabled
MODEM PATH: OFF
DEC 17 2012, 13:59:37
This is an international HOX running 4.1.1 with a locked bootloader.

I was going to write a root "how to" but as it's already been done very well I'll just post the link to XDA here.
If anyone has any questions or if anything is unclear, ask, and we'll do our best to help although the thread is very well written and pretty much self explanatory....

Remember, the usual disclaimers apply.
Follow the steps carefully and you'll be fine.
It is very rare that anything goes wrong if you are careful.
Once you have rooted and flashed your first ROM you WILL get addicted :)

Think I'm gonna struggle with all this because I can't even figure out which bit the toolkit is! Clicked on the first link ("Download my toolkit from here.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=24972527

Extract the...")

Went to another page with a screenshot etc and couldn't figure out what to download. Pressed the big "Start download: Free version" box on the right of the page, and loads of stuff happened, but not what I thought.

Not a good start

IF i do eventually figure this out (with the help of you guys) can you do it in stages? Can I unlock the bootloader one day, carry on using the phone as normal, and then flash a rom another day? How long should the whole thing take?

I clicked on the link that MI5 had posted above that takes you to the xda site, then clicked on the link in the first post there (as per my copy and paste). It works on my phone and netbook...

The toolkit is here http://hasoon2000.info/
Then click on ONE X (International) then the download file will appear below.
or here if it accepts a direct link http://hasoon2000.info/getdownload.php? ... ernational)/One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v2.5.rar
and yes, you can unlock one day, root the next etc but it won't take long once you get going....

Thanks for all your help so far guys.

Just wondering, at what point within the unlocking / rooting / flashing process will the warranty be affected (if at all).

Technically as soon as you root, however, you can always revert back to factory condition and hide any traces of the rooting process..... (assuming you can turn the phone on to do so)....

Sneaky! ;)

So you can fluff the rooting, and as long as you don't fluff it so badly it doesn't turn on, just restore back how it was. I guess that works if you get an unrelated fault and want to send off for repair too: restore it and go in with an innocent look on your face!
