I tried to download that and now I'm plagued with adverts and my browser has changed?!!!!

There is nothing in that link other than firmware files - There must still be something up with your laptop......

Various crap had installed, found them and uninstalled in control panel. Full scan running now .... :crazy

Just check in control panel that you haven't got iLivid installed.....?
